Youth Curling Programs (Ages 7–17)
Our Little Rocks and Junior Rocks programs offer youth a fantastic opportunity to explore and advance in the sport of curling at a low cost.
Led by our dedicated coaches, new participants will learn fundamental skills such as rock delivery, sweeping techniques, and scoring. Experienced curlers will continue to sharpen their skills in breakaway groups. Weekly sessions include a mix of skill-building drills, short games, and a focus on positions, strategy, etiquette, and teamwork.

Additional Information
-
Volunteer on the Ice: We love having parents get involved! If you would like to lace up your clean sneakers and step onto the ice to assist our coaches with drills and station management, please let us know.
-
What to Wear: The rink is chilly! Please dress your child in warm layers and bring a pair of thin gloves.
-
Post-Ice Treats: Free hot chocolate is served after every lesson! A snack sign-up sheet will be shared at the start of the season. Families will take turns bringing a post-lesson snack for approximately 25 youth (cookies are always a big hit!).
-
Safety & Compliance: In accordance with Ontario guidelines, a parental concussion code of conduct is required (Rowan's Law).
-
Peace of Mind: All of our coaches and helpers have successfully completed police background checks.
Answers to some Frequent Asked Questions
Q: Can my child try a session before committing to the whole season?
A: Because our programs are highly structured and follow a specific progression of skills, we require full season registration. However, our coaches work closely with new participants to ensure they feel comfortable and supported from day one.
Q: What happens if we don’t have our own helmet or slider on the first day?
A: The club has a limited supply of adult/youth helmets, grippers, and sliders available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure your child always has a proper fit, we highly recommend purchasing your own gear early in the season.
Q: Do parents have to stay at the club during the lessons?
A: You are not required to stay, but parents are welcome to watch from downstairs or our upstairs viewing lounge! If you want to get closer to the action, we love having parents lace up a pair of clean indoor sneakers and volunteer on the ice to assist our coaches with drills and safety management. (Note: All on-ice helpers must clear a standard police background check).
Q: How does the family snack rotation work?
A: At the beginning of the season, we will share a snack sign-up sheet. Each family takes a turn bringing a post-lesson snack for approximately 25 hungry youth. Store-bought cookies, fruit slices, and nut-free snacks are always popular choices! Free hot chocolate is always provided by the club.
Q: What is Rowan’s Law, and why do I have to sign an extra waiver?
A: Rowan’s Law is an Ontario regulation designed to promote concussion safety in youth sports. Before any youth can step onto the ice, both the participant and their parent/guardian must review the concussion awareness resources and sign our parental concussion code of conduct.
Q: Does my child need a specific type of helmet?
A: Any CSA-approved hockey, ringette, ski, or snowboard helmet works perfectly. Bike helmets are not permitted because they do not protect the back of the head adequately from a backwards fall on the ice.
